Tash York can sing the house down, when the audience laughter isn’t bringing it down for her

The Dame of Australian Cabaret is back in action and we love that for us.
Tash York’s new comedy-cabaret takes us through some of the highlights and lowlights of her life and career, from managing a call centre to spotlighting her wine addiction on the cabaret stage. Her stories are funny, relatable and always come with an unexpected twist.
York’s vocals are as big as her wig. She has one of the best voices in town and can belt out a tune or croon like a lover, when she’s not making up songs on the spot about audience members. She is backed by the wonderful The Red Red Wines (Peppy Smears & Vivian Fonteyn) on keyboard, violin and vocals, and the threesome bounce off each other nicely when they’re not providing a backing to York’s tremendous stage presence.
This is adult-only humour, despite the early time slot. The comedy comes thick and fast from all the banter, the storytelling and the songs. The diva costuming looks fabulous – there’s very few others who could pull it off with such style!
York’s passionate views on crocs are worth 4 stars alone – not that that means her performance is only worth the remaining half a star! Love That for You closes on Sunday. It’s a short run and that’s something I don’t love for you. Get in quick to see a star shine.
